I guess I'm a foodie because I woke up today thinking about food. And the food I was thinking about was all fried. I want fries and onion rings and KFC and taquitos and fried ice cream too. I usually feel this way when I've been eating relatively good food for a long period of time. Then comes the junk craving and I go for the fats and the salt. I do crave sweets but not as often as I do crappy junk food.

Naturally I'm married to a man who prefers to eat good food. Salads and grains and lean meats and lots of fruit. Fruit's okay with me if it's hanging off the side of a cocktail glass.

Sunday I indulged in three Krispy Kreme doughnuts which was wonderful. Maybe that's what started the cravings or maybe it was the bag of chips I somehow inhaled yesterday...but fat and salt is definitely on the menu for me today.

If left to my own devises, I will eat junk food and drink beer and not gain any weight -- basically because if you don't eat good food, you don't waste any of your daily caloric amount on these good foods, leaving more calories for junk food.

Husband who is the chief chef and baker in the house, has been sneaking in white "whole wheat" flour into his cookies and breads and I'm always suspect now of his desserts because he's adding nutrition into them that I don't want. I want the sugar, butter, salt and pure white flour devoid of any nutritional value. That's what I crave.

I don't crave oats, wheat, or flax seed. I think I can live my whole life without ever needing or wanting flax seed but now that's been sneaked into the house. He's flavoring breads with honey and molasses.., I want refined sugar dammitall.

Hmmmm sugar, makes me think of the ice cream I have in the freezer and the new recipe I clipped out for easy hot fudge sauce. Maybe I'll have a sundae on Tuesday for breakfast. Why not?

I live on the edge.

I have given up my obsession with Hostess cupcakes and Devil Dogs though. And I've finally eaten enough Butterfingers to find them mildly repulsive as a breakfast food.

What do you like to eat for breakfast? Do you fall on the steel cut Irish oats side of the breakfast graph that husband eats every day or the hot fudge sundae side of the graph like me?

Sourdough toast with cream cheese. mmmm - sometimes leftover pizza, or a fruit smoothie :) or whatever comes to hand at the time.

ice cream sounds good too. :)

I like everything but the smoothies though I love ice cream sodas. I ended up having a grilled cheese sandwich...how odd, but I just couldn't start making fudge sauce as I had too many phone calls. Yet lunch awaits me so maybe the fudge sauce will get made after all!

These days, I get up very early, so I'm not very hungry in the mornings. I just eat something light like plain yogurt or cottage cheese, though the past few days I've been eating some delicious Napoleon cakes leftover from my birthday celebration Saturday. On weekends, though, I definitely like fried stuff - potato pancakes, fried eggs with cheese, cut up sausage, and potatoes, etc. I have to say, I'm really picky about my ice cream, so I don't usually eat it, unless it's exactly the type I like. However, I usually crave a lot of sweet stuff!

Happy belated birthday Irina! Time's flying by. You must be 1/2 of the way through law school, right? Your fried breakfast sounds marvelous. I'm still holding out on the sundae though, too lazy to make the hot fudge. It's such a glorious day in CT I keep wandering outside just to smell the air and feel the breeze.

Uh huh... I like your theory about saving all your calories for junk food... alas, I gave that up. I was never a big junk food addict - and ice cream is a wonderful breakfast food - it has protein a little fat healthy sugar and all kinds of nutritional value - at least the organic ones do since they come sans hormones etc.
My breakfast? Similar to Ilanna except I have sourdough toast with garlic or dill humus on it; then a couple of hours later yogurt with flax seed stirred in for texture and flavor. The other night my sister-in-law complained that I eat too healthy LOL. I can't help it if I prefer things unsalted...

EC - I adore hunmus! Now if someone tells me it's good for me I might lose the lust for it ;-)

Irina, is prepraring for a deposition a lawyers way of making the person say what they want them to say?

Well, my darlin', after shedding 75 pounds and kicking a sugar addiction I never realized MOST of North America has ... I gotta say I'm on hub's side - if only out of sheer resentment towards the sugar pushers.

Shredded Wheat here ... with a liberal dousing of Splenda.

MB: ANY action lawyers take is getting the other party to say what the lawyers want them to say! : )

Nilbo, I've seen pictures of you at your daughter's wedding and I can't imagine such a handsome man packing 75 more pounds. I should change my evil food ways, but I do so love to indulge myself with chocolate and fries and other such crap.

Irina, you made me laugh. Husband's former company is getting sued and because of that, we now are being bombarded with calls from the lawyers representing the insurance company. Really makes me wish I'd gone to law school!
