Obviously I don't have much to say now, do I? Well I do have a lot to say, but I just don't feel like saying it. I'm trying to let my world worries, my political angst, my concerns over poverty and cyclones and drought ( and on and on) not permeate every second of my life and dwell on all the lovely things in this world.

One thing to be noted is how ridiculous it is in the North East to adopt a pet. A friend is looking for a dog and unless she turns in her SS number, her last tax return and a note from her mother and middle school principal, she can't adopt.

I went through holy hell trying to get a kitten and was treated like I was a serial cat killer, looking for new blood.

I'm not sure how these hoity toity rescue groups think they are helping animals. The woman who's looking for a dog will give that dog THE best life in the world. She lives on 4 fenced in acres in a lovely high end town and has plenty of time and money to devote to a dog.

So, instead of giving a homeless dog a park to play in and a warm, lovely home to live in -- she's going the breeder route. Good Job Rescue Fanatics!

I'm reading a fun book, La Cucina...lusty, humorous, lots of talk of food and the heroine isn't beautiful but middle-aged and over-weight - refreshing for a change. I read half of it last night and am taking it outside with me to finish and to get some rays.

I dream of Bush-free days and harmony and world peace. Ok, I'll settle for Bush-free days.

we have a lot of rescue groups like that down here too. They charge you like $350 for the priveledge of adopting a puppy and if you aren't going to be home at least every 4 hours, or arrange for a pet sitter every 4 hours - then they won't adopt to you. Now the groups we got ours from is not NEARLY as militant. but they do have a rule of no Outside dogs. Which i think they'd be flexible on somewhat on case by case basis. Ie. My boss up in norwich area - he has 4 dogs - that are outdoor dogs. They have a big shelter with hay to sleep in - and they are housebroken so when the weather is bad they DO come in side - and he has about 2 acres of land for them to play on. Plus he specifically gets breeds that are inclined towards the weather. I wish people could find some middle ground - but then again i wish that in a lot of aspects, politics, war, religion, money etc . . .

(will definitely check that book out too btw now that I finally finished the one i was reading. :)

I'm ready to see Bush step down as well. It's time.

Sorry to hear about your pet adoption crackdown. Sounds like getting a kitten is pretty equal to introducing a sex offender back into the community.

Ilanna, it's so bad up here they are flying in dogs from Puerto Rico, dogs who probably ran free, ate garbage and rats and had a jolly good time being dogs. Now the are in cages, stepping in their own feces and under the auspices of the SPCA. Makes me want to cry.

How are you feeling dear one? You are having a girl, aren't you? ;-)

Canopenner hahahahhaahah you are one funny person...love your comment hahahahahahahha.

Hello N! What are you up to now? I've been so out of the loop lately - working ugh and busy with fun and notsofun responsibilities.

Ilanna, are you still here? If so, guess what I had tonight for dinner -- a first. Husband made Boston Brown Bread and Boston Baked Beans -- from scratch. Lordy it was delicious...who'd a thunk it?

Hi Linda where ever you are...hope you are well too. xooxxoxoxo

Im sorry Mary Bishop, The alternative was telling you I constantly have a million people trying to give me kittens which I must refuse. Seems no one in the midwest has heard about spaying and nuetering, and there are many, many, many baby cats to be had everywhere.

Also, I fear change, Joseph Stalin could be president and Id worry about how Nikita Khrushchev would be to replace him.

Ill try and keep the comments here more seriously minded in the future.

Hi Linda, Hi Ilanna...

I had a great weekend but got sick shortly after all the fun...just a cold type thing but enough to remind me I cannot party three days in a row without wiping out my immune system!!

And then there's the ants. They are making me crazy...we've sprayed with everything non-lethal known to mankind but they are my part time job -- I am an ant killer now...and I hate the idea of killing anything, even a plant!

Ilanna...I'm coming by right now!
