Is the Fourth of July a Religious Holiday?
Just wondering, because a miracle did happen.
I actually got along quite well with my mother-in-law. I managed to spend a whole day with her without wanting to tear my hair out (or her hair out).
It’s never fun to be forced to hang out with someone who doesn’t like you. But for some reason, she decided to be nothing short of lovely to me and mine.
Two other family members, that in the past have made me crazy, also brought their best behavior with them on the holiday. (They came on time, they didn’t bitch, they didn’t get drunk and they didn’t damage any property – on purpose or by mistake!)
These small changes in behavior made everyone’s holiday very enjoyable. Small changes can make a big difference.
Now I must clean up my house from my weekend guests and enjoy this special time alone after a very busy but fun holiday.

People tend to change with time, that gives you peace of mind which is reciprocated naturally. Enjoy your serenity, hava nice time.

That is great news. I almost always enjoy my MIL now, and vice versa. It used to be VERY different. I hope this wasn't a fluke and that people will continue to behave themselves.
On your email/comments, my last couple of comments here have been returned to my email box as "undeliverable."

Susie...we had a major family todo a couple of years ago...so I think everyone of the naughty relatives knows, they must be good.

Jac - I'm not getting any email copies anymore...I don't know what the problem is -- apparently others are having problems too...it's a pain in the neck as I could check email and instantly know if someone had commented on my blog...now I have to go to my post and check...hope they fix it soon!
