We’re There and Guess What? We aren’t Going Anywhere!

It was comforting to hear the prez tell us yesterday, that we could expect troops to stay in Iraq for a long, long time.

This way we don’t have to worry or wonder when our brave soldiers are coming home to stay. We know for sure they’ll be there for years and years.

Right now, maybe you have a preteen or teen daughter or son, maybe they’ll go to Iraq too. Maybe your unborn children will also go.

When the prez was asked if he foresaw a time when U.S. soldiers were no longer needed in Iraq, he said he did not think it possible for a "complete withdrawal" during his presidency.

"That, of course, is an objective," he said, "and that will be decided by future presidents and future governments of Iraq."

Oh bring on those future presidents pulleeeeze.

Bush says his strategy is working…and that strategy is sending thousands of young people, year after year, to Iraq where they do not want our help and prove it on a daily basis.

September 11th, 3000 people died in the terrorist attacks. George Bush only has 700 more bodies to go until his war equals the amount of dead from 911.

Of course, we don’t count Iraqi civilians (30,000 to 60,000)…because they don’t count –not to our government.

If they counted, we’d get our butts out of there and back home where they belong.

(I need to stop reading the news. I read a lot of foreign newspapers online and America has gone from being a respected superpower to a hated or mocked third world country-- bought and sold by the religious right.)

Too bad we can’t fast forward time to the next election. I’d be willing to lose that time from my life if we could elect someone new…at this point, mostly anyone would do.

Depressing.

I agree! Deeeepressing. I hope the next President can end this war for good and we can rebuild our global reputation. I feel like a bully and I haven't done anything!

If you need cheering up just think: Spring!

Maybe thats his goal? F**k**g asshat. I tell ya, i'll move to Cananda before my kids turn 18 if thats what it takes, that way my grandchildren wont be over there!!!!!

Yes, 5 exclaimation points were SO needed. That was being conservative.

Yes, I have such peace of mind now, knowing where the soldiers will be. So nice of asshat! What a great guy! Can I kiss his feet now? Please? I must!

Grrr.

I'm thinking spring with all my might LB -- I know what you mean...I feel like I have to apologize to the world for how America is behaving. Nothing like a Messianic president to make the world hate your guts.

Lawbrat...you have two young sons..this has got to weigh on your mind...just because we don't have the draft now, doesn't mean it won't be employed at the first moment he needs more young bodies to throw into the quagmire of Iraq...

Michelle, wouldn't that be nice, if he put his daughters' lives where he wants every other American family to put their kids' lives.

I'm with Michelle, send his bratty twins; then we can talk about doing your duty, our extended stay, etc.
I try not to think about politics and even with a new president and not one from the current team, there's just W's mess to clean up and that's depressing itself. The man has a history of running companies into the ground, he's done the same with our entire country.

AMK - you bring up an interesting point about his ability to run a company...or lack of ability.

Maybe we need to nominate Donald Trump or Warren Buffet or some other billionaire who has proved his ability to run a corporation successfully.

Maybe then we can stop selling our country to foreigners, bit by bit...and stop borrowing $700 BILLION a year from other countries...

Blood pressure rising!!!!!!!!!!

So sad. That's the thing with Bush, just reason after reason not to ever move back....

Kimananda...I often toy with the idea of becoming an expat...if only I didn't have all my family and friends here...I'd love to try a new life somewhere else.
