Hi Mary,
I'm sorry to hear about your husbands' uncle. Funerals are usually a time for us to see relatives that we don't normally see so it can be fun and sad at the same time, I can relate.
Yesterday, I watched the food channel all day and they had the gingerbread house contest that was pretty fantastic, amazing what they can do. I have never made one but it looks fun. What a great memory maker and pastime for kids.
I've been pretty busy myself but I wanted to come and check on you to see how you are faring.
Now I have to go get ready for work. My first full day since I started the new job.
Hey, I wanted to tell you I'm reading a book called "for one more day", I'm almost done since it's a short read but you might like it.
Merry Christmas and Happy Hannakuh to my favorite atheist ;)

The kids had so much fun making these houses! The houses came in a Wilson kit and then canned frosting and about $50 worth of candies and we were good to go hahahah.

Thanks for the comments everyone...

(Dasha thanks for the book tip and I hope you are happy in your new job.)

wish I had more time but I just heard my in house chef holler up here that breakfast was served!

One more thing...the kids were 5, 4 and 3 who made the houses with help from a big 12 year old and the wine glass in the first picture which is filled with something green was a pistachio martini...quite good and helped calm the nerves of the adults who were trying to keep the sugar mess in the kitchen!

Lovely houses... :)

and i'm sure they were better when viewed through the martini glass. LOL

I'll stick with the crocheted gingerbread men that my mom made for my tree. I"ll try to take a picture later and post it on my blog (of my newly decorated tree.) :)

happy festivus for the rest of us! :)

I couldn't leave a comment on your blog Ilanna...so I'll put it here:

Your tree is beautiful and the gingerbread men are too cute for words. How is your knee doing? I hope you will be able to enjoy the holidays without pain...xoxoox

huh . .. i just tried and left a comment on my blog with no worries. I know minijaxter has left comments too.. weird.

anyways - thanks about the tree. :) Knee is doing better for the most part and i'm walking fairly normally.

As for holidays without pain, a lot of that has to do with how early the dogs wake me up during the week hubby is away. :) HUGS

Bush goes ballistic about other countries being evil and dangerous, because they have weapons of mass destruction. But, he insists on building up even a more deadly supply of nuclear arms right here in the US. What do you think? What is he doing to us, and what is he doing to the world?
Are we safer today than we were before?
We have lost friends and influenced no one. No wonder most of the world thinks we suck. Thanks to what george bush has done to our country during the past three years, we do!

Great comments anon...just wish they were up on a Bush post and not on the Gingerbread post as I doubt many people will read them...I agree with you!
