Mitzvah Monday

I have a friend who donates his Mondays to many good organizations -- he calls today his Mitzvah Monday and I love the term.

Today I'm going to mitzvah myself and do nice things for me: a bubble bath, pedicure and manicure at least. I feel that I do help out others frequently and enjoy doing so, but today I need to give the TLC back to me. Sounds selfish when I write it down, but I do think we all owe ourselves some TLC and tend to forget we are capable of giving it to ourselves, not just other people.

There are so many activities, celebrations, parties and picnics in June I feel like I don't have time to take a breathe. So today is one day I can breathe deeply and meditate which I love to do.

Meditation brings me an inner peace (sounds trite) that nothing else can do for me. It's about being in the now, this moment in time and when I do it correctly it shuts out all negative thoughts, worries, concerns, conundrums etc.

I suggest you make it a Mitzvah Monday too. Choose yourself to pamper or help out. Next week you can do it for others. Come on, you know you deserve it!

Hi MB!

It's funny that you should like that term so much!

It's one of my all time FAVORITE Hebrew words! The literal meaning of the word is commandment, but the way it is mostly used is as a good deed, or just doing something nice for someone!

Doing a mitzvah for someone is ALWAYS a good thing, a blessing for sure. And yes, you DO deserve to do something nice for yourself once in awhile, as you are a very sweet person, always thinking of others.

So I hope you enjoyed your Mitzvah Monday!!

God should bless you and keep you!!

Love,
Linda

Hi LInda! I adore Hebrew words and Yiddish words, though I never know which is which. Notice the title of my blog! I would have loved being born Jewish just for the words alone!! Lucky for me, I have a Hebrew scholar as a friend so he indulges me with wonderful words like Mitsvah or Tchotchkes to acquaint myself with. These words roll around on my tongue like candy.

The concept of the mitzvah is so wonderful and Oprah didn't invent it either!! xoxoxo How's gorgeous Sammy?

I hope you had a wonderful Monday. I wish I could take a day off. I'll have to blog about how my days have been spent lately. Nothing too fun for the mind, body, or soul.

Linda, I just came back from Bradley's blog...oh that little boy is a charmer!!! Congratulations on expecting a new little one soon. Won't those two become fast friends in the near future. There is nothing like having a close cousin, in age and in heart.

Nicole, you need some TLC. You are too stressed and working too hard. Carve out some special time for yourself, maybe Nate could take you out for dinner or you could just laze away a day watching tv. Poor baby.
