The song below is dedicated to Finbar who is resting comfortably.

No Balls at All

Now listen my children, a story you'll hear.
A song I will sing you; 'twill fill you with cheer.
A charming young maiden was wed in the Fall.
She married a man who had no balls at all.

cho: No balls at all. No balls at all.
She married a man who had no balls at all.

The night of the wedding she leaped into bed.
Her breasts were a-heaving; her legs were well spread.
She reached for his penis; his penis was small.
She reached for his balls; he had no balls at all.

``Oh mother, oh mother, oh, what shall I do?
I've married a man who's unable to screw.
(For many long years, I've avoided the call,
Now I've married a man who has no balls at all.'')
or (Oh mother, oh mother, I wish I were dead
And buried along of my poor maidenhead.)

``Oh daughter, oh daughter, now don't feel so sad;
I had the same trouble with your dear old dad
There are lots of young men who will answer the call
Of the wife of a man who has no balls at all.''

Now the daughter, she followed her mother's advice,
And she found the proceedings exceedingly nice,
And a bouncing young baby was born in the Fall
To the wife of the man who had no balls at all.
(or, "The bouncing young bastard had no balls at all.")

Spoken: No testicles whatsoever!

I remember when Attila and George were neutered. They were six months old and George was trying to mate with Attila. After that, I called the cats my little baby eunuchs :)

Hey Kids, thanks for all the comments. Ilanna, he's still not eating well...
Thomas, should I be concerned? Mini..I'm buying freaking Fancy Feast and he's not eating that much.
Nate, yup, deballed and I had to pay for it too.
Nilbo, you are right, comfortably was not a good choice of words. Love the caption!

I wouldn't worry too much about the eating thing. The anasthesia and everything can really mess you up. (take it from me who was in that situation recently. :) ) Give him another day or so, if he's STILL not eating then call the vet. but he has to give his body time to get the drugs out and get used to things. But to not eat that day is not abnormal at all...

Thanks Ilanna for the reassurance. Today he is MUCH more active and husband said he ate well this morning.

Now the big debate, should I let him out? He wants to go out with his brother cat and meows by the door constantly. We live on a dead end street...at the end and there is almost no traffic...no stray cats around either or loose dogs.

Still, I do worry about him...well, must think it over. xoxoxo

just remember in your next life it is FINBAR who will hold the scissors.

Don't let him out. He doesn't know any better! There are dangerous things out there, and there is a new study that says millions of birds are killed each year by cats, especially migrating warblers! I've only had cats in an apartment, so I have no experience with letting them out!

I would let him out until he's at least fully healed from the surgery which is gonna be another week or so at least. After that . . . I don't know. My neighbor's rule was to wait until the cat was at least 1 year old. I guess it depends on if the older brother will take care of him, or try to set him up like older brothers will tend to do. :)

are your cats microchipped by the way?

Oy vey Scotty...I sure hope he doesn't come at me --clipping my nails or anything else!

Lori, so far we are on the don't let him out side of the debate. The negs are that we have had cats who go where they want to, in or out, and have lived very long and healthy lives.

Still, I think we might change our minds...and after the Providence of a Sparrow book, I am totally changed in so many ways...

Ilanna, we live in such a safe area and on such a safe street, still, as they say, when you know better then do better. In the past we always let our cats out but now, I am rethinking that whole scenario and wonder if he can have a full and long life inside...and as Lori points out, save some birds in the process. We are losing birds due to global warming...nothing I can do about that, but I can help by keeping Finbar inside.

He ate well today for those who care. And for those who think I'm obsessed by my cat and boring as hell -- you're right ;-)

YOU boring??? Never.
We lived in the country for many years and had little or no problems with cats being outside but when we moved to the city, my cat didn't last very long and I still regret letting her out that day. But that's what she was used to so it seemed cruel to keep her inside at the time.
Happy New Year Mary!!! I've been really busy so I have not been on the web too much these days.

I wish Finbar a speedy recovery from his alteration.

Looks like he's getting some well deserved rest after such indignities. Being a queen of double entendre, I would dub the picture - "pussy dreams".

Now then, as to the song reference . . . "No *Jewels* At All" is the way the Bawdy Balladeers sang it at the Maryland Renaissance Festival, ilanna. And yes, we recorded it under that title on our second recording - For Your Pleasure(no longer available). Our lyrics are quite different and a bit more (ahem) refined to make that PG rating for fair. Still, the gist of the song as quoted here follows the ideas set in the original by Oscar Brand.

Nice to know we're still being thought of - now go dig out that CD.

Hi Dasha, everyone seems so busy lately, me included and I miss my daily rounds and writing my blog and reading other blogs but alas, duty calls! Nice to hear from you dear Dasha!

Michelle, he's doing great now, spitting out his antibiotic all over but other than that, he's a joy.

HI Tink! You are a fount of information on this song. How much fun to hear your version...maybe I can find it on ebay!!

Well - with tink's permission, if i can find my copy i'll make you a copy Mary. (since it's no longer available, but i will wait to see if Tink says it's ok.)

I miss seeing you guys though!!! Are you going to be back at the MD ren faire any years soon? :)

And Mary, finbar looks nice and quiet. now you'll have to take some pictures of him out of his drug induced stupor! LOL. Btw - i just updated with a new ALIT sideline story. MUWAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA!

mary i am glad the kitty is eating better. pleased keep the kitty inside. i dont know how many times i have almost hit my neighbors cats because they are outside cats.
i live at a dead end street too but the cats dont necessarily stay in your yard.

kitties can have long healthy lives inside.
:)

I'll pop over to your place Ilanna...can't wait to hear.

Mini - I wouldn't even consider letting him out if we didn't live at the end of a dead end street. Plus my other cat goes out...still, I don't think I'll change anything as long as he isn't meowing like crazy and getting frustrated that he can't go out.

I'll update pictures soon as he's much much better than in that photo!!

Tink...do you know a group that goes by either Tinker's Damn or Luck Mud? I know they've done some ren fairs in the past. They're a wonderful group.

Mary and Illana,to prevent a lot of off topic chatter on The Bawdy Balladeers or copying the For Your Pleasure recording, please email me directly at tinkknitz@yahoo.com - allow some time for me to answer please.

I have been to many fairs through the years but don't recall Tinker's Damn or Luck Mud. Doesn't mean a thing though considering the amount of talent out there.

Hope the kitty is back to wreaking havoc - as kitties do.
