Monday Morning Updates

1) The house across the street has been painted. And the color is: yellow! I can live with it so far. They still have the door and shutters to paint and with luck they won’t pick pink or purple.

2) The Lieberman ad I spoke about was sent by some credit union and not by his campaign though I would doubt very much he didn’t okay both the text and the photographs. I noticed the “paid by” small print section on the ad this morning. It’s still “P. U.” P. R. no matter who sponsored it.

3) I told you how much I love my dentist Ed Kozinn, and I mean it. Husband has an appointment this morning and I sent him off with a new book on the Mets to give to my dentist. Have you ever given your dentist a present?

4) Why is it I wonder? I frequently make white rice in my microwave and most of the time it’s okay, but sometimes it comes out dry and sometimes it comes out too wet, except when I am making up a batch for my dogs.

(One of my dogs has had a stomach upset, so I put lots of rice in his bowl to calm down his digestive problems.)

Anytime I make dog rice it comes out as if I had a steamer and my maiden name was Chung.

5) Is Michaelangelo’s David circumcised? He should be as a Jew, but there seems to be some controversy over this question. Doing some research for a friend writing a scholarly article in which this question is probed, so to speak, I read that early circumcisions were just a small snip at the end of the foreskin as opposed to the “remove it all” circs you can see today.

Ergo the question. Consensus now seems to be yes, he was circed but just a tiny bit which was in vogue at the time --blurring the line between circ and no circ.

I don’t know about the Jewish culture, but today’s doctors are recommending a small snip reversing the trend to eliminate the bulk of the foreskin if the parents choose to circ at all.

6) Besides penis research this weekend, I also got some insight into the world of professional photographers. A friend who is also a photographer was sharing with me some of the requests she gets from clients. If she could fulfill their requests, she then should also open up a church or a sideshow as she’d have to be either a god or a magician.

One woman whose hair had fallen over half her face, wanted the photog to remove the hair…okay…and what else? -- she wanted the photog to create a face where the hair was?

Another person wanted flowers photoshopped in empty pots and vases.

Another wanted her to come and take pictures of Granny and Grandpa, the nine cousins, a newborn, the dog, baby and Daddy, baby and Mommy, baby and Big Brother, baby and Big Sister, baby and Big Brother and Big Sister, baby and dog, baby and Granny etc. etc. and the requests went on and on and on.

All this for the one sitting fee…really!

I suppose I should be glad I'm not a professional. I don't think I could deal with that level of idiocy on a regular basis.

Eh, I'm just too cranky.

Dealing with people who have unrealistic demands isn't fun no matter what profession your in...I'm glad that most of the time, most of the people I deal with are pretty reasonable!

uuuummmmm. :)

I don't htink my brain will work well enough to respond to all of this so:

yay house color is decent
Lieberman is an idiot
Your Dentist rocks - too bad I don't live in CT
Don't know about rice _ i use a rice cooker... perfect every time
And rice went to my puppy this morning too, his tummy was upset
Don't know about David but I heard Howie Mandel do a bit about how his progressive parents had him "hemmed up" so he could always let it down later if he wanted.
Full removal is a sanitary thing and while people can keep it clean - as a jewish mother, I wouldn't know how to teach my kid to be clean the way a good guyim mother could. (wink)
As for the photog. :) people are nuts and more power to your friend the photog. Mine was awesome, but i'm sure he'd dealt with some idiocy as well. :)

hehehh WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

I did run the gamut on subject matters this morning!

Re baby penis...today they tell you to just leave it alone...a soak in the tub will clean it all up...so no worries.

Still don't know what color the shutters are going to be...I'm waiting here...shutter color can ruin it or make it and I've got years to view it...I still say they should have asked me to pick the colors ;-)

I'm so glad I had a girl, no circ's to worry about! Although it wouldn't have been a question, even if we weren't Jewish. Just a matter of preference on mama's part. (=
I like how this was all over the place as a post but I could follow it.

I think David is done just a little.

Our house is yellow, and I love the color. It's nice and sunshiney, esp on gray winter days.

The dog rice, that's so funny MB. Comes out perfect for them!

Sometimes the dogs of the house eat better than the humans. One person I knew gave their dog rice and chicken breast every night. My mom does the rice for her terrier, and she gives her canned green beans. Loves them, and they are very good for the crazy kids too.

AMK - lately I've been busier than usual, so I'm just posting thoughts -- random and nothing relates to the paragraph before...but it does get me to throw up..no put up a post most days.

Not wonderful writing but it keeps me blogging.

PG - Yup, that's what most historians say...re David. Gotta remember to put some subject matter in my replies!!

I'm happy with the sunny yellow house but won't rest until I see the shutters and door...I love yellow houses.

I think my dogs throw up just so they can have nice rice and broth.

This comment had throw up twice in it...how nice for the readers.

ANK, you and LInda are my chief cheerleaders with your encouragement to just write what comes into my mind without trying to perfect the best post, the most cogent post, lucid post, wonderful post...more like - oh just write something and don't worry about it.

In our lives, we are all so busy and stressed, why blog if it's lost it's fun factor or enjoyment factor?

I let blogging almost lead me there once..but I've recovered and said: hey I'm not getting paid nor are any of the people who come to my blog getting paid..we are doing this for the fun of it...

That's good to remember...so that's why I am writing these disjointed posts!

Glad that you and Linda are following the flow okay...of course, Linda's got QMB coming into her life very soon...so she has to be half crazed waiting for her new little grandson...;-)

MB I love the random thoughts.

As for the circumcision thing -i think its a matter of preference but i know someone who was not snipped and he grew really big so it bends all funny.

:)

anyway stupid people exist therefore i have a job however they hurt my brain sometimes.
