Bad Ad, Joe Lieberman

Joe Lieberman may have fired his campaign staff after he lost the Connecticut primary for senate, but I think he needs to do it again.

His latest political ad is the pits.

"Joe Lieberman thought you might enjoy a break from Ned Lamont's negative attacks. So just sit back, and think about - good stuff," a soft woman’s voice says.

Then it shows the sun on the horizon with gentle waves in the foreground.

A setting sun.

(I’ve since learned the Lieberman campaign is saying it’s a rising sun.)

Point is, my first impression, maybe yours too, would be a setting sun and a setting sun is a metaphor for the end of something, not the beginning of something.

The ad stinks, plain and simple. If it’s that ambiguous as to whether the sun is setting or rising, then it is a bad ad.

As a Lamont supporter I revel in Lieberman's poor choices for advertising.

But as a resident of Connecticut, I have dealt with his poor choices in the senate. As a Democrat, I’ve been appalled at his poor choice to become a Bush/Cheney/Rove butt-kisser, and as an American I’ve been heartbroken by his overzealous cheerleading for the Iraq war.

Just how many times can he fire his campaign staff?? I wish he’d fire himself and drop out of the campaign.

“Stay the course” is the setting sun for Republicans. Three quarters of voters say they want to get our troops out of the Iraq civil war and put them to better use fighting to protect US citizens against terrorism.

Remember Osama bin Laden? The sun is still rising and setting on his much alive head.

once again... you wait by the river long enough and the head of your enemy comes floating by...

lieberman in his overzealousness is going to hang himself... just you wait. :) Now i haven't seen any of lamont's ads, So i don't know negative or not, but just saying "now to get away from those negative ads..." is in itself a negative ad, because you are still accusing your opponent of something. If you want a non negative ad, you just say "so and so is for this and that, and will do his best for you!" with no mention what so ever of the other candidate. if they have to explain it not being negative then it's negative to begin with.

Got my fingers crossed for Lamont and all the others when the midterms come up in November. Maybe we can cook the lame duck's goose before he's an official lame duck... :)

Ilanna, how smart you are! Some media specialist said the same thing. By mentioning negative ads by Lamont - Lieberman is producing a negative ad, even if he had puppies and kitties in the ad. So far I have not seen a negative ad by Lamont...just facts about how he's voted.

If you put Lieberman, ad, sun in search blogs you can see the ad, I looked for a link on you tube but couldln't find one.

I wish I could see this ad, but then again maybe not. I'd be yelling too much. Then again I yell a lot anyway about our locals. I'll go check it out.

Joe Lieberman is an ass who needs to get over himself and get out of here gracefully (if that's even possible at this point). I've always hated when politicians have nothing more to say than negative smears about their opponents. Makes me think there's nothing much they have to say period.

Hey Mary-completely different subject. What is the crazy story coming out of Fairfield about the dad going into the man's house and killing him?

PG --Yes, that just happened in one of the sweetest normal neighborhoods you could live in,(I know someone who lives a block away.)

Apparently and allegedly the guy is a drinker and been acting crazy - plowing through his garage, shouting obscenities and walking around naked with the lights on.

The wife was away somewhere with the child, and the child told? her mother that he had molested her. Mom calls up husband at home and tells him and he goes insane - grabs a knife and breaks in the guys window and kills him, then goes back home and waits for the police.

That's all I know so far...bizarre - and we just had the guy who put his wife's out with a carrot a few weeks ago in Monroe CT.

I feel very normal.

I was just catching up a bit- I CANT believe you couldn't adopt a kitten!

Yes, dogs and cats can live together in harmony.

Yes, older cats can love a kitten.

Yes, you can teach kids to be gentle and respectful of cats.

Yes, cats can go outside and not be harmed.

Just nuts.

I just did a post on a kitten we found. He is fitting in just fine with our older cat, and the kids are gentle with him.
