Fries and Ribs

Got a yen for some magnificent ribs? (Rated the best in Connecticut year after year after year.) Want some extraordinary sweet potato fries? Traveling anywhere near Fairfield, CT? Then hasten over to the Ash Creek Saloon!

A friend and I had a delicious lunch there today. I just love the place. Western-themed, but packed with a clientele from all over Connecticut, the food is amazing and the ambience is welcoming and the bartender Lars, makes the experience a fun and friendly event.

Dip your fries in molasses, sprinkle some "beer salt" in your Pabst Blue Ribbon draft, and enjoy the three tvs (all sports all the time).

Twice today I experienced the best of the best: my dentist and my ribs.

It was a great day.

Glad you've had such a good few days. Sometime soon i'll write about our visit to the evil NY but for now.. I need to let it settle a bit. :)

Oh my god, why did I read this post? I'm STARVING. Thats funny that you mentioned ribs though. Nate and I drove past a rib joint here in Oshkosh that we've never noticed before. It smelled pretty tasty on our way by. I guess the best ribs I had were from Famous Dave's. Do you have one of those there?

Can I tell you what a baby I am? I can't eat ribs. WHY? I eat meat so why cant i eat ribs? "cause if I can recognize the part of the animal I'm eating I'll throw up. Chicken legs... cant do it. Ribs... cant do it. Even mystery bones like T-bone ... can t do it.

Chicken wing... hell no it has a little joint in it and it still can move like a wing.
The meat has to be bone free and unrecognizable.

You know I'm not the red meat girl, but...we went to memphis about 7 years ago and when in Rome you know. Nothing beats good ribs and cheap beer. This place sounds great Mary.

No Famous Dave's around here, Nic, but I love a good dive. You're such a good cook I bet you'd make wonderful ribs.

LB,I wouldn't eat a thing if I really thought about where it came from...like eggs for example. Or milk...thank god for beer, I can think about where it came from and not recoil.

Linda, I plotzed at the photos - so cute...those extra long trunks slay me. Beef ribs are hard to find in the north, but there were plenty in the south when I lived there.

Gavin, you are a gentle soul with a big heart and I love you for not eating ribs...wish I was as moral.

Hey PG - pork is the other white meat! (hahahah) though ribs do get red once bathed in barbecue sauce.

Hi Mary!
I just stopped by to say "hey". And as usual you are talking about my favorite subject here :) That's funny because I just saw a pic of fried sweet potatoes somewhere. I think it's in my new "Eating Well" magazine.
Anyway, I have not really been blogging too much at all lately. I just checked it today and saw your comment you left. Thanks for checking on me. Life has been busy of course. My grand daughter is 4 mos old now and just adorable. I have some pics on my flickr if you're interested.
I've also got some big changes going on maybe with my job. I've had 2 interviews this week and it looks like I might be back in the mortgage biz and I don't wanna jinx it but I'll let you know what happens. That would be something that I feel is blgoworthy. Fingers crossed for me. It's a good opportunity.
I hope all is well with you too. I'm sorry to say I haven't visited here in awhile.
Have a great weekend!
Kathy
